| Like life, we speak our "Mother" language then we learn the rules of grammar. You want to get right to JAZZ playing and I can help. My experience is getting people started in JAZZ playing in either a casual or career-oriented role. My philosophy is that everyone should have a social music skill, be competent in being able to play with others, and have the knowledge to take their ability and interest to higher level if they desire. This requires exercise, a little discipline and sincere encouragement. Using a "riff-based" approach to rhythm and solo development (on tenor, soprano and alto sax, clarinet and flute) students learn to perform in traditional, swing, modern jazz and commercial genres. My aim is to provide what a new student needs; a supportive ennvironment, the right “ax” and a program to meet their individual needs. Lessons include instruction in sound production, technique & effective use of the seven basic ingredients of JAZZ playing. |
